Camp Port Louisiana

Three-day Multicultural Camp for school-age children.  Participants explore a variety of cultures.  Offered twice a year during Thanksgiving and spring school breaks. Camp is 8:30am-5:00pm each day.  Cost: $75

Japan In A Suitcase

An educational outreach program made available to teach children about Japan through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and lectures.  The main object of the program is to show children the similarities and differences of Japanese children as compared to themselves while providing basic information about Japan.  To arrange a school visit please contact Janice Gatlin, (318) 424-1380, two weeks in advance of your requested date. 

Teen Council

Started in 2006 with a grant from the Charles T. Beaird Foundation.  High school students, ages 13-18, meet monthly and perform community service projects.  Projects include art activities with Providence House, LSUS Hospital children's ward, yearly walk-a-thon for cancer, and more.   Annual teen summit is scheduled for 2008 with music, food, fashion, and more from various cultures.  The Teen Council is free to join.

Language Translators

The MCCS can assist agencies and organizations in need of a person to translate foreign language.  We have provided interpreters to local Police, Fire and Sheriff's departments, City Hall, court system, hospitals, clinics, and other businesses.  Volunteers from our community provide the service.

Diversity Training

MCCS Executive Director, Valarie Gunn, is a certified Diversity Trainer.  She can facilitate training programs or train-the-trainer for businesses and organizations.  Please contact Valarie for more information.
